On May 26th Maybel delivered seven beautiful, healthy puppies. Four females and three males - all with lovely white markings.
An opportunity came our way that would allow us to create a litter specifically for their strong service dog potential. The ability for the puppies, we create, to serve in a greater capacity beyond beloved family member is a high priority to us. Puppies were being spoken for even before the breeding had occurred.
We have high hopes for the potential of this litter. Above you will see images of "Maybel" AKC Sapphire Eyes Maybel of Featherburry, an Old English Sheep Dog, and "Hickory" Colorado HashKnife Bow an Old Time Scotch Collie.
*** Please Take Note: This outcross will produce puppies not recognized by the Scotch Collie or Scottish Collie Registries.
Maybel is 55 lbs. and stands 23" tall. She carries 1 copy of MDR1 and is otherwise genetically clear. Mabel is very people focused. She's an unflappable and highly devoted girl. Maybel's Dam is a service dog, and her Sire is a highly cherished certified therapy dog. Wisdom Panel reports she only carries 1 copy MDR1.
The sire is "Hickory" Colorado HashKnife Bow, an Old Time Scotch Collie. Hickory weighs around 50lbs. and stands 22" tall. He is genetically clear and has a very sound and gentle nature. Instinctively kind and thoughtful to animals without any prompting or correction. He is a beloved guardian and protector of his farm. https://app.embarkvet.com/pet/0e23693b-5bd7-40e2-b4df-5c6ef534d23d/about

This will be Holidays last litter. Holiday is Jessica's "Heart Dog" and is the ideal we set our breeding goals to achieve. Her kind and gentle nature that loves all animals and children makes her so easy to put in any environment without fear or anxiety. Due to these traits, her first litter had a disproportionate number of puppies who had the right temperament for service/therapy work. Two of those pups found homes who tapped into that potential, and they are currently serving their families well.
This being Holidays second and last litter we wanted to make sure we chose well. In this circumstance we chose two sires. We didn't want any available eggs left unfertilized. We chose two genetically clear boys.
The first boy we chose was "Bonsai" Reg. Bred for Brilliance Bonsai, a Border Collie with a bearded coat. Bonsai is super chill, with very low energy, and full health testing. He is 21" inches tall and 40 lbs. Do not be misled by these action shots of Bonsai. The breeder and guardian let us know getting these movement shots required a huge amount of energy, on their parts, to attain. This pairing will produce puppies with coats much like the sires but less extreme. While we will breed away from this coat type in the future, they are less likely to trigger allergies, in some people, and typically shed less.
Bonsai's breeding contract was ending, and a neuter appointment had been set which led us to choosing a dual sired litter so these genetics could be tapped into before the opportunity was gone.
Holidays last date was with "Hickory" Colorado HashKnife Bow, an Old Time Scotch Collie. If any eggs remained unfertilized, these two would produce perfect little OTSC Puppies in type and temperament. Hickory weighs around 50 lbs. and stands 22" tall.
